It’s Saturday. I’m at work & all my college friends are in Hawaii.
This is my reality. WOMP. I sent them a sappy depressing email telling them I miss them way too much.
On the bright side, one of my friends who was also unable to go on this trip is coming over & we’re going to have a lady’s night out!

Despite my chipmunk cheeks, I put on a cute summer dress and made my way to the baby shower of a family friend we hadn’t seen in years. Actually a full decade to be exact.
These are people that my family used to be very close to a long time ago but everyone just lost contact. Then through the miracles of Facebook we found each other and reconnected for this baby shower.
It was so strange seeing everyone after such a long time. But I am beyond happy that I went.
To My Friend From Cardiff:
Yesterday I saw a street sign that said “Cardiff” and of course, like any normal human being who wants to document an exciting finding, I proceeded to take a picture of it, to show said friend from Cardiff.
Little do I know that a cop watched the whole thing. He pulled me over for “not being a careful driver”. He said I came close to hitting someone [which I was completely unaware of]. He gave me a little lecture, and let me go with a warning.
So dear friend from Cardiff, I hope you enjoy your picture. Lots of effort and risk went into it ;D.
Getting ready for tomorrow’s mini-road trip
To Santa Barbara!!! Three friends graduate from UCSB!!! One of them is a gal I love from high school. The other is like my brother. I’ve known him since I was 14. The last is a man whom I used to date. We ended things because I was going to college in San Diego while he was going off to Santa Barbara. I was devastated. But we ‘agreed’ it would be better to end things so not to ruin our chances of being together in the future. That was nearly 3 years ago. And now… I’ve moved back to LA and he will be doing the same. Don’t worry though, I’m not holding my breathe. :) Back to the point: looking forward to tomorrow’s mini road trip.

I’m about to meet up with my good friend who graduated from Annapolis, the Naval Academy in Maryland a few days ago. He is only in town for two more days so I’m treating him to a celebratory breakfast. I had the biggest crush on him in high school but he didn’t like me. Then he had a crush on me and I didn’t like him. Then he held me while I cried after the worst break up ever. Then he took me to his naval ball. And after all of it, we’re really good friends. And you can never have enough of those.

Blast from the past
I went to get a mani/pedi today to match my bridesmaid outfit for the wedding on Saturday. I had just sat down when a girl I had known in high school walks in. We hadn’t seen each other in five years!
It was hard to believe that much time had gone by. We spent the entire time at the nail salon getting our toes done and reminiscing about taking line dancing classes for P.E., taking the bus together after school and other high school shenanigans.
We switched numbers and we’re planning on hanging out next weekend!

Random Plans for Tomorrow Night
I spent last summer in San Diego. It was a special kind of summer where I spent all my days in the sun playing with kids [summer camp counselor job] and salsa dancing the night away.
On one random night of dancing I met this guy, let’s call him the Cuban. Because, he was-you guessed it- Cuban. [Ha,Ha]
Nothing ever happened between us other than really great chemistry on the dance floor. He made fun of my Argentinean accent and I, of course, of his Cuban accent. We flirted and he bought me a drink, and we switched numbers, but that was about it. We did try to hang out multiple times that summer but either I wasn’t available or he wasn’t available. Then I moved to LA and we occasionally talked and stayed in contact.
Randomly, this weekend he and a friend will be in town for a weekend of salsa dancing. He called me earlier this week for suggestions and to invite me to join him.
I invited my good friend, A, to come with me as well. I’m excited because it’s going to be a random adventure, with random friends, in a random place I’ve never been to.
To randomness!!!!!

Native foods. Yum yums.
For those of you who don’t know, Native Foods is vegan cuisine that is super popular in LA, really delicious and overpriced. Nonetheless, I’m going with my friend from college whom I haven’t seen in eight whole months [since graduation]. What is that! Right? It’s been way too long. I’m giving myself permission to get out of work early because I’m awesome.
Oh, and because I’m doing a shift at the crisis hot line tonight until midnight.
